URGOB

If you'd like to explore the sound of Der Šenster Gob when they were founded in 2011, come to a concert by Urgob. Missing this rougher, more straightforward sound, we revived this original line-up in 2016 and still perform with it a few times a year.

Der Šenster Gob was founded in 2011 as speed-klezmer trio of a flute, an accordion and a double-bass. That were the pioneer times of our busking tours around Europe, which finished, when the flutist Jiří decided rather to brew beer then live on the road.

But after five years, we decided to remember the beginnings and tour and play with the old composition and repertoire again. But as Der Šenster Gob already means the four-membered Gypsy band, we settled for the name Urgob.

The band plays music from Eastern European cellar bars and village dance parties, songs from Hungary, Ukraine or Galicia from the beginning of 20th century, before swing was invented.
